Soun’s Palace (Aafin Soun)

Historic royal seat of the Soun of Ogbomoso, established over 400 years ago by Ogunlola founder of the town. Architectural and cultural landmark, housing royal relics, a museum, and formerly the famous palace tortoise, “Alagba” (believed to be 300+ years old). Frequent site for traditional events and ceremonies guided tours available. A key destination to appreciate Yoruba history.

A traditional shrine/house tied to Ogun, the Yoruba god of iron and war sometimes referred to as Ogun Oja Ilu or Ogun Ojalu. Ladoke Akintola’s House
This modest but historically significant residence belonged to Chief Samuel Ladoke Akintola, a renowned Nigerian statesman, orator, and the Premier of the Western Region (1960–1966). As a key figure in Nigeria’s early post-independence politics, Akintola played a major role in shaping the country’s democratic and federal institutions. His home in Ogbomoso now stands as a preserved heritage site, offering a rare glimpse into the political life, domestic style, and societal context of mid-20th century Nigeria.
